The Chapter gathered aboard The Berkeley as bagpipes welcomed members and guests to a holiday dinner buffet with sea shanty sing-along. After dinner the lights were dimmed for "As Told at The Explorers CLub" when members shared close calls, and aha moments in the field and share updates. Jean-Louis Etienne invited the Chapter aboard one of the largest oceanographic sailing vessels studyng the mysteries of the Southern Ocean, who stopped in San Diego on their way to the Southern Ocean

Members gathered to mingle and enjoy a lovely evening while learning about elephant seals and their role in ecosystem from Dr. Roxanne Beltran from UC Santa Cruz. It became a reunion of researchers and college alums that went into the night, followed by after- drinks after Nautilus Tavern
