Explorers Club Fellow and Medalist David Dolan carried out child vaccination campaigns in the jungles of Central and South America

​

David is the recipient of several notable awards, including an annual award recognizing outstanding community service and social justice that was named in his honor by his alma mater, Westmont College, which also named him a Distinguished Alumni. He received the Citation of Merit from the Explores Club in 2009 for “Outstanding Service to the Explores Club and Efforts on Behalf of Earth’s Most Precious Nature Resource, the Family of Humanity”. David has served on the Explorers Club Board of Directors and was its first Vice President for Development. Currently he’s Chair of the Legacy Society Committee.

David served as Chapter Chair of the Southern California for several years before moving to San Diego in 2015 when he and fellow Explorers Club member Nancy Nenow MN’04 were married.

On July 21, 2017, four years after being diagnosed with severe lung disease, David received a double lung transplant at UCSD, and now recovering from his life-saving surgery, he continues his commitment to service. The next year, the Explorers Club presents David with the Edward C. Sweeney Memorial Medal. The Sweeney Medal is awarded annually to a Club Member in recognition of his or her outstanding contributions to the welfare and objectives of The Explorers Club.Most recently, David presented a TEDx Talk at the University of California at San Diego on May 18, 2019
