The Explorers Club Holiday Party - San Diego, December 15, 2025
The Chapter gathered aboard The Berkeley as bagpipes welcomed members and guests to a holiday dinner buffet with sea shanty sing-along. After dinner the lights were dimmed for "As Told at The Explorers CLub" when members shared close calls, and aha moments in the field and share updates. Aboard the Perseverance
Jean-Louis Etienne invited the Chapter aboard one of the largest oceanographic sailing vessels studyng the mysteries of the Southern Ocean, who stopped in San Diego on their way to the Southern Ocean


Roxanne Beltran talks about elephant seal research at the Lind residence in La Jolla
Members gathered to mingle and enjoy a lovely evening while learning about elephant seals and their role in ecosystem from Dr. Roxanne Beltran from UC Santa Cruz. It became a reunion of researchers and college alums that went into the night, followed by after- drinks after Nautilus Tavern


Virtual Dive to submerged caves with Scripps Center for Marine Archaeology November 15, 2025
11/15/25 Several dozen members gathered to see the caves of Quintana Roo and sites in Puerto Rico where underwater photos were used to reconconstruct the sites through photogrammetry on the UCSD campus at Qualcomm labs. Hosted by SCMA Dr Dominique Rissolo shows some of the findings from their cave research


Fathom Bistro with So Cal members and Scripps researchers
San Diego and So Cal Chapter members met at Fathom Bistro on Shelter Island to hear what the explorers found that day off Pt Loma.


Roar and Snore Safari Park
Explorers Club members and guests camped out in the tents at Safari Park for Roar and Snore, organized by Sara Shoemaker Lind. We got to see the animals at night and were invited to sneak peeks behind the scenes.
