Jess Phoenix is a geologist and Executive Director and co-founder of environmental scientific research organization Blueprint Earth. She is a volcanologist, an extreme explorer, host of the upcoming Discovery Channel series Hunting Atlantis and former candidate for United States Congress. Her expertise is in lava flows and natural hazards, with an emphasis on volcanic hazards. Her work has taken her to six continents, where she has organized and led over 25 scientific research expeditions. She has been chased by narco-traffickers in Mexico, dodged armed thieves in remote Peru, raced horses across Mongolia, worked on the world’s largest volcano in Hawaii, piloted the Jason2 submersible on an undersea volcano, and explored deep in the Australian Outback.


Jess is a Fellow in The Explorers Club, the Royal Geographical Society, a frequent contributor on the Discovery, Science, and Travel Channels. She has been an invited TEDx speaker, and she has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, in Wired, Fast Company, on National Public Radio, on CNN, NBC, and has written for the BBC and Face The Current magazine. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband Carlos and 11 rescue animals. Jess is the author of Ms. Adventure: My Wild Explorations in Science, Lava, and Life from Timber Press.
